Mark: I would describe “Documentary Wedding Photography” as photography that has roots based in elements of photojournalism. My work consists heavily on the capturing of candid, and spontaneous moments during weddings that more reflect the authentic happenings of a wedding day. In order to capture these unique moments of time I do my very best to place myself in and around activities to increase my odds of creating specific photos within the artistic frame of my camera. Is this challenging? Yes, very much so, however I love the challenges of chasing these fractional moments in time and truly enjoy having the ability to share these moments with my clients. I have a very fast eye and this gives me the ability to capture things unfolding before me in ways that help tell the story of my clients wedding day. Every couple and wedding day is different and what happens during weddings is as unique as our fingerprints. The photos I capture and create then provide incredible visual stories when strategically worked into my beautiful wedding photo books. This is the core of my business and my personal passion within photography.

Mark: I get a lot of questions from clients as to what they should wear on photoshoots. The answer: what makes you comfortable and represents your personal style.
Avoid blacks and whites as blacks can add contrast causing parts of you to become lost in the details of the image. Whites can be worn, however in lower light or when heavy clouds in the sky reduce the lights harshness. Whites often “blow out” in strong sunlight and once that happens details are impossible to recover during editing.
Instead opt for pastel colors in clothing and avoid anything with patterns. I always suggest men wear long sleeve shirts which the cuffs can always be rolled up. Women wearing anything flowing can further add movement and energy in the photos. Avoid makeup with any glitter, instead opt for wearing less…dress as if you are going on a nice date with each other!

Mark: I shoot with Canon professional high resolution, DSLR & mirrorless cameras (the 5D Mark IV, the R5, and R5 Mark II), and the highest quality Canon professional EF & RF lenses and specialty studio lighting when needed. I prefer to shoot with high quality, fixed focal length, prime lenses, which provide me more control of my light, depth of field, and sharpness. When paired with my high resolution Canon R5 & R5 Mark II cameras this helps me create the very best quality photos for me, my clients, and my overall brand which is extremely important to me. I choose to shoot and work with the very best tools available to me and I’ll continue to upgrade my cameras and lenses to maintain and deliver the highest quality photos possible for my clients.

Mark: No, retainers are non-refundable however, if the wedding date is moved to another day due to unforeseen weather or incident outside of the control I will always offer a credit towards another date good for 365 days from your original contracted wedding day. This credit is only valid for the reschedule of your wedding and mayn’t be used towards any other kind of event or photo session. There is no guarantee I won’t be retained by another client for other dates in the future, however I will always work with all of my clients to capture their special day!

Mark:Yes, the contract can be amended to add additional hours. I accept Venmo, and Apple Pay payments (sorry no checks). Should additional hours be needed the day of the event my hourly rate will apply and a pre-payment for those hours will need to be finalized before further photography services continues. I will always meet with my clients in a one-on-one free consultation prior to the event and will provide my best advise on what to plan for and how to get the best estimation of hours for your special day.

Mark: I am a solo photographer however I suggest my second photographer for weddings with 100 or more guests/attendees. A second photographer can be added to an any wedding at an additional hourly rate of $200/hr matching/shadowing the same hours as myself. I highly suggest my second photographer with all weddings regardless of the quantity of attending guests.

Mark:I currently do not offer videography services, however I have two videographers I highly suggest and have placed in my vendor list . My current primary business focus is in creating beautiful photo books that document my clients special day.

Mark: Yes! I have several wedding photo books from actual weddings I’ve captured with different cover and book size options. I always bring them with me to my client consultations vs just showing you digital images online. The physical books allow me to show the overall build of the book including the incredible photo paper and the image print quality. I have many custom elements that can be worked into each book!

Mark: I edit several photo highlights from your engagement or wedding and deliver them to my clients within the first 24 hours following an event so you may share them with family and friends. The bulk of wedding photos may take around 1 -2 months to deliver depending on the amount of photos captured and how much editing I am involved in. This may vary depending on the time of year and my overall workload from other weddings. Once all of the finalized photos are completed and uploaded to the client catalog my clients are sent an email invite to the website where they can view the final photos. Clients have 30 days to view, download, and purchase physical prints.

Mark: Premium “Portrait” Photo books have a fairly fast turn-around (approximately 4-6 weeks to complete and deliver) while my Premium Wedding Photo books take a minimum of 2 months to produce after I have completed my photo edits, and another 1-2 months to print. Keep in mind, each book is unique and customized page by page. Expect a 4-5 month overall timeline from your wedding till delivery of any books. Delivery will depend on the time of the year, size of the book, and other factors, however I will always do my very best to get my books to my clients in a timely manner while maintaining the very best of quality!

Mark: Yes, photo prints will be available for purchase with a variety of sizes within your own secure client catalog, accessible here on my website. I use a professional print company that specializes in high quality, color accurate, printing processes. This ensures that all of my clients receive the highest quality prints with the same colors, tones, and clarity in the final digital image edits. Prints will be available for purchase once all photo edits are completed. An email invite will be sent to you with a unique catalog password once the catalog of final edits are available. Client catalogs are accessible online for 30 days once sent to my clients.

Mark: No, all RAW negatives are the property of Mark Peterson and For Love With Love. Each of the photographers selected RAW negatives go through an editing process where various adjustments, corrections, and artistic touches are made to create the finalized photo. RAW negatives require special editing programs and the knowledge of editing techniques to create final photographic images with them. I, like many other photographers and artists, maintain all RAW negatives in order to control the overall look, feel, and quality of my finalized photos and to maintain my overall business brand.

Mark:Yes, I do travel to other cities within Arizona, to include Phoenix, however I charge for round trip milage for events and photoshoots over 60 miles from my home office (central Tucson). I charge $3.00/mile, round trip which must be paid prior to any event/photoshoot and may also be charged if additional locations are added outside of the contracted agreement (additional reception locations, secondary photoshoot locations, etc. This will be articulated in the pre-agreement/contract I have with my clients or added to the previously agreed upon contracted total due.

Mark:I am currently accepting weddings in Aix-En-Provence, France and Belgrade & Novi Sad ,Serbia and can provide a quote for a round trip flight from Tucson to these cities, hotel/rental flat for one week (7 nights), and credit for transportation and food during my stay. Rates may vary depending on the time of year, available flights, travel distance, transportation to and from my rental flat/hotel lodging and the wedding venue. Details can be worked out during a client and photographer meeting prior to the wedding and will be articulated within the contract.

We all at some level desire to find connection with another in this world; it’s a beautiful aspect of being human. A part of me lives vicariously through my amazing clients and I often reflect on my own personal longing for love & connection which is a big driving factor in my work.
I don’t want my clients to have just photographs from their wedding day, but instead, memories tied to moments and the emotional energy. I also have never wanted to be a “luxury photographer” which I am not. I want everyone to have access to quality, artistic photography that is also affordable.
I love each and every one of my clients, and carefully and intentionally do my very best to use my artistic vision and capabilities as a photographer to show teach and every one of them in the best light.
